Halloween 2011: Being Veronica Lodge

The Vamp Vixen, Ms. Veronica Lodge

I have a confession, I grew up reading Archie comics. I used to keep up to date with the latest digest of Archie and the Gang and my favorite, of course, Betty and Veronica comic book series. This Halloween, my boyfriend and I, my bestfriend and my bestfriend's boyfriend who happens to be my boyfriend's bestfriend as well (Do you get the dynamics?) wanted to do a group costume. We racked our brains for hours and hours over at Barcino a month before and finally decided on one: Archie and the Gang. It's totally something we've never ever seen done before so it was a great idea to do it. As usual. given that I am never the girl-next-door, I was cast as Veronica Lodge. It makes sense, really, since my bestfriend Nina is the sweeter one and well, I was always Team Veronica since birth. My boyfriend, Inigo was Jughead and my bestfriend's boyfried Jed was, Archie. We even had a Moose with us that night! I made my costume and all the boys costume and wheew TEAM RIVERDALE ROCKED THE NIGHT over at Attica!

For my costume, I decided to go all out or nothing at all so i decided to wear a red leather corset it true Ms. Lodge fashion (since red is her signature color). I paired it with a leather skirt (both are from and by Glitterati) and get this: vinyl thigh high lace up boots. I got these boots by mistake and was surprised when it arrived via courier. I didn't really know where the heck to wear these except for Halloween and that's exactly what I did. Even wore a jet black blunt cut long haired wig to complete the look.

Who did y'all come as for halloween? Send me photo links, I want to see!

About Veronica Lodge

Veronica Lodge is Riverdale's resident rich girl and brunette bombshell. The girl who has almost everything: great looks, money, charm and some of the time.... Archie Andrews. You see, Archie is constantly torn between Betty and her “I’ll do anything for you” qualities and Veronica’s irresistible femme fatale persona. Veronica is actually both a rival and a best friend to Betty Cooper. It all depends on how Archie figures in on the equation. If Archie isn't involved, Betty and Veronica tend to agree on many things, despite the fact that Veronica is from a much more privileged background. Her father, Hiram Lodge, is a self made multi-millionaire industrialist and venture capitalist who seems to give his only daughter pretty much everything she wants or needs. But he can't give her Archie! ...And wouldn’t if he could. However, Veronica is part of the classic love triangle between Archie and Betty. Now, in spite of the fact that Veronica has the ability to buy her way in and out of a lot of situations, she knows full well that there are some things money can’t buy. Veronica performs okay in school, but she’s not nearly the Honors Student that Betty is, which is somewhat of an annoyance to Veronica. Veronica does manage to "one up" Betty when it comes to Archie-- but the two girls can never stay mad at one another for long. Veronica plays keyboard in The Archies group and is a very talented dancer as well. Veronica lives in a mansion and seems much older than her 16 years. She has traveled around the world and is the only member of the Archie gang who has really spent a lot of time outside of Riverdale. Always beautiful, always immaculately dressed and styled, Veronica is a fantasy character for a lot of young readers. Girls want to be like her and boys want to date her-- or at least be friends with her! Something exciting is always happening with Veronica and visiting her huge mansion is like a trip to an amusement park!

I'm like a ringleader (I call the shots)

There's only two types of people in the world: the ones who entertain and the ones who observed.. Well I'm a put on a show kind of girl.
Military Coat: Mango | Top: Zara | Skirt: Glitterati | Accessories: Random | Boots: Online | Bag: Givenchy Nightingale

Wore a ringleader inspired outfit which was fitting as we were watching Cirque Du Soleil. I don't know what it is about me but I love dressing for the occasion... it's interesting to play a part sometimes and while this was more "call to arms" than circus, I guess you get the vibe given my coat had a tail. Since it was rainy and we were experiencing typhoon weather back here, I decided it was high time I whip out my thigh high boots and take 'em out for a spin around town. It was a smart choice especially since it covered my legs against the elements esp. the cold since I get really really cold easily. Wore my all purpose Nightingale purse with the look which fit my entire life inside and of course added some bling rings including a cute gold elephant ring which added to the circus theme. (I watched Like Water for Elephants while preparing so I get into the whole circus mood!!!)

Cirque Du Soleil was awesome. Check out some photos I had to sneak taking with my Iphone!!! The set, the VIP Lounge (Tapis Rouge which means Red Carpet, literally) and the atmosphere was inspiring and it added to the vibe! I loved it!
(We were front row and I love the whole harlequin/ pageant of the macabre feel of that night!)
